Digging into the YouTube Musical Mine

The Internet just keeps getting better.  It is incredible how much music (audio/video) is available at the click of a mouse. Truly obscure, fascinating stuff and more of it coming all the time.

Check out The Glenrays with Haunted Repetition from 1963. This could easily pass as an early recording from The b52's. Somebody in or near the group must surely have known about this one, maybe from an older sibling.  Anyway, give it a spin, as we used to say back in the day. It was a great find.

The surprise find of the day is this black and white piece of punk rock history from 1974, Patti Smith at Max's Kansas City.

Hard to believe I've been a Patti Smith fan for forty years. I'm pretty sure you can't really be a punk rocker after you turn sixty, but this still sounds good to me.
